Gerardo is a Senior Learning & Development Officer at the RIPE NCC. He develops and delivers training courses and webinars on technical and Internet governance topics. Before joining the RIPE NCC in 2009 as an IP Resource Analyst (IPRA), Gerardo worked at several Internet companies in Argentina and the Netherlands providing technical support and training.

About the talk:

Discover practical ways to make your IPv6 network perform better. We’ll use RIPE tools to show you how to spot subtle performance gaps, pinpoint suboptimal routing, and uncover new peering opportunities.

Eric van Uden, AVM

Eric van Uden has a long experience in the world of Broadband networks in Europe. This ranges from design of the physical infrastructure to the actual protocols now used in FTTH and important protcols like IPv6. Eric has a technical background in Tele- and data communications. He has been working at AVM (FRITZ!) since the year 2000 and his responsibilities include AVM’s (FRITZ!) commercial activities within the provider world in the Netherlands. FRITZ! is one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of products for broadband connections and the digital home. Since the year 2023, Eric joined the “Executive Advisory Board” of the BroadbandForum.

About the talk:

More and more countries regulators require ISP`s to show what speeds they actually deliver to their customers. But how to proof? Within the BBF, the standard TR-471 is used for this purpose. This presentation shows how this can be applied in practice!

Gianluca Sironi, Naquadria/PCIX

Gianluca Sironi is co-founder of Naquadria and PCIX, serving as CFO and managing special projects and enterprise architectures; he has worked in IT services in the banking sector for 25 years as network and systems engineer; he collaborates with the Milan Order of Engineers and Politecnico di Milano and he is a member of the ITNOG association.

About the talk:

Traffic distribution analysis during the MIX downtime on last May 12th in other Italian IXPs (MINAP, NAMEX, …) using publicly available data.

Ulrich Wisser, ICANN

Ulrich WISSER has joined ICANN Org as Regional Technical Engagement Manager for Europe. His main role is to support ICANN org’s technical engagement efforts in the region (trainings, promote DNS standards and best practices, promote research, …). He reports to Adiel Akplogan, VP Technical Engagement at the Office of the Chief Technology Officer.

Ulrich’s professional career prior to joining ICANN included a 15 year tenure at the Foundation for Internet Infrastructre, the Swedish ccTLD (.SE) registry. He has served as Co-chair of the Centr Tech working group and on the DNS-OARC program committee.
He is a 4th degree black belt and licensed judo instructor.

About the talk:

RDAP has been the future for a long time already. We have come to a point where it is not longer optional, but actually widely supported and in some places already without alternative. Let’s talk about what it is and how to use it.

Dr. Gerhard Stein, FLEXOPTIX

Dr. Gerhard Stein is Head of Product Development at FLEXOPTIX, ensuring that innovative and amazing products are brought into the market.

Back in the 1990s, when he was still living in Mexico, he wrote small programs and assembled computers and network systems for customers. After his arrival in Germany, he began studying mechanical and process engineering at the TU Darmstadt, continued this at the Ruhr University Bochum, specialising computational engineering and received his doctorate in the field of simulation technology.

He also develops open source software such as the Commander Genius game engine.

About the talk:

This presentation investigates the proximity to a low Signal-to-Noise Ratio (SNR) threshold that can still maintain a tolerable Bit Error Rate (BER) in 100G / 400G / 800G network links. Additionally, we account for factors such as temperature and cable length to predict the duration for which a reliable network connection can be sustained between transceivers. The analysis, based on data retrieved using a Flexbox, focuses on comparing the reliability of coherent (16QAM) and non-coherent (PAM4) transceivers, with a detailed discussion on the implications of these technologies on network performance.
Made by FLEXOPTIX Research – Gerhard and Thomas.

Damjan Cvetko, MonoTek

Damjan Cvetko is one of the early authors of the system behind RTVSLO.si, the national radio and television news site. Through his company he did development, architecture, network, DevOps and other tasks on this and many other projects. He is actively programming in many different languages for over 30 years. He also took part in getting RTVSLO.si IPv6 enabled as one of the earliest larger web sites in the country. He is an open source enthusiast and has contributed to many projects from IRCd, PHP, Visual Studio Code and various Debuggers. Recently he also ventured into cyber-sec waters.

About the talk:

Today IPv6 is so common and omnipresent, that we should not even need to think about it. As developers we rely on the abstraction provided by operating systems and application frameworks to handle any annoying details. But what happens when the details come back to bite us…

SINOG 9.0 srečanje nadaljuje dobro prakso predhodnih IPv6 in SINOG srečanj in združuje visoko-tehnološka predavanja vrhunskih mednarodnih in domačih strokovnjakov o aktualnih izzivih, reševanju le-teh in kratke predstavitve dosežkov domačih podjetij in organizacij.
