
Ulrich Wisser, ICANN
Ulrich WISSER has joined ICANN Org as Regional Technical Engagement Manager for Europe. His main role is to support ICANN org’s technical engagement efforts in the region (trainings, promote DNS standards and best practices, promote research, …). He reports to Adiel Akplogan, VP Technical Engagement at the Office of the Chief Technology Officer.
Ulrich’s professional career prior to joining ICANN included a 15 year tenure at the Foundation for Internet Infrastructre, the Swedish ccTLD (.SE) registry. He has served as Co-chair of the Centr Tech working group and on the DNS-OARC program committee.
He is a 4th degree black belt and licensed judo instructor.

Tomaž Zaman, Mono
Tomaž Zaman grew up in central Slovenia in a family that ran an aluminum foundry, studied wood technology, and then discovered the web instead. In 2013 he co-founded Codeable, a marketplace connecting clients with WordPress experts that grew to more than 1,000 contractors serving 40,000 customers worldwide. After ten years he left to return to his hardware roots: frustrated with the state of modern routers (his YouTube channel tagline is simply “I hate routers”), he founded Mono and is building Gateway — a community-driven, open-source-first high-performance router (NXP Layerscape, dual 10G SFP+, OpenWrt). The first Gateway development kits have shipped and are in the hands of networking enthusiasts and reviewers around the world.

Out of memory: how AI ate my router’s RAM
Two years ago, building an open 10G router looked like a hardware problem: pick a good SoC, design the board, fight the SDK, ship. Nobody warned me that the hardest component to source in 2026 would be the most boring line on the BOM: RAM.
While the AI industry builds datacenters the size of small towns, memory manufacturers have quietly shifted their production capacity to feeding GPUs — and everyone else, from car makers to one-product hardware startups, is now bidding for what’s left. The result: DRAM contracts sold out years in advance, spot prices that change between two revisions of the same quote, and lead times that would embarrass a railway operator. My current favourite: an actual, serious offer, which went from $35 to $300 — in 6 months.
This is a progress report on Gateway, the open router we started building because none of this class existed: what shipped, what broke, what the community did with the dev kits — and what it’s like to run a small hardware company in a world where a chatbot’s appetite decides whether your product gets to have memory.

Gianluca Sironi is co-founder of Naquadria and PCIX, serving as CFO and managing special projects and enterprise architectures; he has worked in IT services in the banking sector for 25 years as network and systems engineer; he collaborates with the Milan Order of Engineers and Politecnico di Milano and he is a member of the ITNOG association.

Sander Steffann, ProVision
Sander Steffann has been involved in the Internet since 1995, when he helped a friend start a small ISP. He holds a Master’s degree from the University of Twente and has been an active member of the RIPE community since 2004, co-chairing the RIPE Address Policy Working Group from 2007 to 2018. Since 2010 he has worked as an independent consultant advising enterprises and service providers on network architecture and IPv6 deployment, and he was a founding board member of the Netherlands IPv6 Foundation, NLNOG and the Global NOG Alliance. Since 2025 he is part of the ProVision team, which provides DDI software, anycast DNS and professional services for network management.
Jan Žorž, ProVision
Jan Žorž is a network engineer and IPv6 architect with more than 30 years of experience in ISP network design and Internet governance, currently Head of ProVision Labs. He founded the Go6 Institute, where he coordinated Slovenia’s participation in the World IPv6 Launch, and spent nearly a decade on the Internet Society’s Deploy360 operational engagement programme. He is a primary co-author of RIPE-554, the BCOP on IPv6 requirements for ICT equipment, a co-founder and board member of the Global NOG Alliance, and the founder of SiNOG.

You can’t make everybody equally happy – Measuring anycast with an AI as the third member of a two-person team
6connect/ProVision operates an anycast DNS platform: six prefixes announced by 39 BGP nodes in 13 regions on five continents. For years we knew it worked — queries got answered — but we couldn’t prove how: who reaches which node, how fast, and where packets quietly die. Measuring anycast from the inside is a chicken-and-egg problem, because the network is explicitly designed to hide which instance you will hit.
This keynote tells two intertwined stories. The first is how we turned anycast’s most annoying property — ICMP replies landing on the “wrong” node — into our core measurement primitive, and grew it into a fully automated daily pipeline: 117,000 probes per second across 2.6 million targets, RTT/loss/jitter for 1.4 million addresses, PMTUD black-hole detection, ECMP traceroutes, BGP monitoring, and visibility measurements at 845 Internet Exchanges. The second story is how it was built: neither of us is a full-time developer. The system came out of an intensive pair-programming collaboration with AI coding models — reviewed by multiple independent models (Claude Opus 4.7/4.8, Google Gemini, Claude Fable 5), which kept finding real bugs. The AI did the heavy lifting; the humans supplied three decades of network intuition, direction, and veto power. The AI’s most-typed sentence in the project logs: “Your intuition was right.”
Marko Zagožen, Flint SI
Marko Zagožen is a software engineer focused on building network automation solutions. Throughout his career he has consulted for several large service providers, helping them automate their processes. Many of the projects he developed or made significant contributions to are now open source and widely used in the community (notconf, vrnetlab, StratoWeave, …).

StratoWeave: a symphony of abstractions
Introducing StratoWeave – the open source platform for creating intent-based network orchestration systems. We will discuss the benefits of model-driven declarative transformations and integrated operational data collection, which are then used to build a closed-loop system that reacts to changes in the network. The examples used in the demo are based on a representative service provider network (MPLS Layer 3 VPN).
Luka Filipič, NIL
Luka Filipič started his career as a network engineer and Cisco course instructor, and joined NIL in 2013. He first worked in the customer support department for cloud office services, then developed through various roles from Linux system engineer and internal IT specialist to network engineer.
Today, as a data communications specialist, he works with clients from the banking, energy and manufacturing sectors, where he helps with the planning, configuration and management of wide area, local area and data center networks. His expertise in switching and routing technologies is confirmed by the CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure and CCNP Service Provider certificates.
Recently, Luka has been focusing mainly on Cisco Catalyst SD-WAN and Cisco ThousandEyes solutions, which enable companies to increase security, transparency and optimization of their WAN infrastructure.
In his free time, he is passionate about mountaineering and exploring mountain trails and verticals.

Case study: Building a Modern OT Network – Platform for OT (POT)
The POT project is one of the largest OT infrastructure modernization initiatives in Slovenia, supporting DARS, the national motorway operator. The project’s primary objective is to establish a resilient, secure, and centralized operational technology platform that enables reliable traffic management while addressing key business requirements, including IT/OT separation, cybersecurity, high availability, operational standardization, and long-term scalability.
This session will present the architecture, design principles, and implementation of a highly available transport network, modern data center infrastructure, and a secure OT environment. Special attention will be given to how the network architecture enforces IT/OT segmentation, improves operational resilience, and supports the migration of mission-critical traffic control systems without service interruption.

Ralph Smit, RIPE NCC
Ralph Smit is a Senior Internet Resource Analyst at the RIPE NCC, specialising in Internet number resources (IPv6, IPv4 and ASNs), Internet routing (BGP) and routing security (RPKI). He joined the RIPE NCC in 2021 after more than fifteen years as a network engineer at various Internet service providers, where he designed and maintained networks for hosting, access, voice and mobile data services.
